On the morning of August 8, Mr. Wu Lei, Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group, and his team visited Highly Marelli (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
After reviewing Highly Marelli’s mid-year operational performance, Highly Group’s overseas strategic layout, and business progress in Southeast Asia, Mr. Wu Lei highlighted Thailand, as the largest automotive producer with high sales potential, is accelerating its transition from traditional manufacturing to a modern automotive industry focused on energy efficiency. As an early internationalization leader in Shanghai Electric, Highly Group should intensify its global market expansion, leverage regional advantages, and advance its global production layout to support Shanghai Electric's "going global" strategy and foster cohesive international development.
Mr. Wu Lei highlighted that SHEC (another subsidiary of Highly Group)'s new production line at Thailand plant has optimized manufacturing resources and supply chains, showing great potential for regional synergy. This model should be further promoted within the Group. Ongoing efforts are needed to advance automation, enhance lean management, and maximize the benefits of flexible and large-scale smart manufacturing.
Mr. Wu Lei set higher expectations for Highly Marelli to expand into China, Europe, and the U.S., while maintaining excellent service for Japan OEMs. The company should adapt to shorter automotive development cycles, improve technology and sales response times, and aim for significant performance breakthroughs by 2025.
During the visit, Mr. Wu Lei and his team inspected the Highly Marelli (Thailand) production site, reviewing operations and market expansion. They set improvement targets for labor costs, personnel structure, domestic & overseas sales ratios, and inventory turnover. Mr. Wu Lei also expressed sincere appreciation and support to employees at Highly Marelli’s plant in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
The visit was accompanied by Mr. Xiao Weihua, Vice President of Shanghai Electric, Mr. Miao Jun, President of Highly Group, Mr. Lu Haifeng, Vice President of Highly Group and CEO of Highly Marelli, Mr. Cui Rongsheng, Vice President of Highly Group and other key executives.
